About Us.

Ahoy there cruisers! We’re Ben and David, and we started Cruise with Ben and David after our first ever sailing back in 2015.

At the time, we’d never even thought about taking a cruise—honestly, we thought they were a bit dull and only for retirees! But that trip completely changed our minds. We fell head over heels for the unique mix of destinations, ship life, and the sheer joy of sailing.

How It All Started

After that trip, we realised there wasn’t much honest, engaging content about cruising on YouTube. Most of what we could find was shaky iPhone footage, and even the cruise line websites didn’t really show what life onboard was like. So, on our next cruise, stuck indoors on a rainy sea day, we decided to make our own ship tour video—using just our iPhone and a very steady hand!

The response was amazing. People were so excited to see what cruising was actually like, and they wanted more.

About six months later, we decided to start posting videos every week as a fun project to do on the weekends! It all began with us in our kitchen—usually with a gin in hand—chatting about our best cruise tips and hacks, and sharing ship tours and stories.

Before long, our audience started to grow, and what began as a weekend hobby quickly turned into something much bigger.

We Kept Going

In 2020, Ben left his corporate job to work full-time on the channel—just in time for the pandemic to bring cruising to a halt. But even though ships stopped sailing, we didn’t stop creating. Every week, we shared news updates, stories, and photos to keep everyone entertained. We even started a live show called Cruise Sundays—a way to bring our community together and share a few cocktails (virtually!) when we all needed it most.

During this time, we were incredibly fortunate to see our audience grow and to become a trusted voice in the industry. We’ve been featured in newspapers like The Washington Post, New York Times, and The Mail on Sunday, and we’ve also appeared on CNN, Fox News, and three episodes of the BBC’s The One Show.

As the world opened back up, we shifted our focus once again—from just talking about cruising to showing what life onboard is really like through our vlogs.

Where We Are Now

In 2023, we launched InsideCruise, our second YouTube channel packed with cruise news, tips, and updates.

Over 150 cruises later, it’s incredible to see how something that started as a weekend hobby has grown into such a wonderful community of over 300,000 subscribers.

In 2024, we hosted our first group cruise! It was an amazing chance to get our community together, and we really enjoy meeting people while we’re out and about. If you ever see us, please don’t hesitate to say hi—it means so much to us to meet the people who make this all possible. Without our community, none of this would exist.

These days, we’re still creating high-quality cruise vlogs—sharing the good, the bad, and all the fun in between. We’re just two cruise and travel fans who can’t stop talking about ships, ports, and everything else that makes cruising so special. Whether you’re planning your first cruise or your fiftieth, we’re here to share what we’ve learned, answer your questions, and help you have the best experience possible.

Which one is Ben and which one is David?

It’s probably the question we get asked the most! So here’s your chance to get to know us a little better (and maybe settle that confusion once and for all!).

Ben.

Hello! I’m Ben, originally from Sunderland in North East England. After studying at Sunderland University, I started my career as a camera operator, working with broadcasting networks like the BBC and Discovery Channel.

Alongside my love for video production, photography has always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to work on everything from wedding photography to corporate shoots, and I’ve even showcased my work for organisations like the BBC, Princess Cruises, and newspapers worldwide.

For me, cruising is all about discovering those incredible destinations you just can’t reach any other way. Alaska, with its glaciers, wildlife, and rugged beauty, is definitely my favourite—it’s truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

I feel so lucky to be able to combine my love of video, photography, and cruising to bring our adventures to life. Thanks for joining us on this journey—I hope our videos inspire and entertain you as we keep exploring the world by sea!

David.

Hi there! I’m David, originally from Hull in Yorkshire. I later moved up to Sunderland to study Media Production at university. Fun fact: I even co-hosted a weekly student radio show!

After uni, I worked as a Web Developer at a digital media company in London, eventually becoming Head of Design. On top of that, I’ve been a freelance graphic designer, working with everyone from local businesses to national corporations and indie movie studios. One of the coolest things? Seeing my designs pop up everywhere, from electricians’ vans to movie billboards in Leicester Square.

For me, there’s nothing quite like that moment when the cruise ship sets sail. The excitement, the sea breeze—it never gets old. Out of all the places we’ve visited, the Norwegian Fjords have to be my favourite. The views are straight out of a storybook, and the ports are full of charm and character.

I’m so grateful we get to share all of this with you on our channel. Thanks for joining us on this adventure—I hope our videos bring you along for the ride, give you a laugh, and maybe inspire you to set sail yourself!

Oh, and yes—we’re a lot taller in real life.

 5ft 9 and 6ft 2 if you’re wondering!.
